Mayor Coonerty's restrictive rules regarding limiting discussion of items on the Consent Agenda requires those who want a full hearing on the resolution to request it be removed from the Consent Agenda. In any other city in the state, a member of the public has the right and power to do this simply by requesting it. Under Coonerty's new rule, you need the permission of a Council member.
In essence, you have to beg a Councilmember to allow what is a right everywhere else.

You also have the option to comment briefly on any and all items on the Consent Agenda for a grand total of 2 minutes for ALL items put together. This can be done without "begging".

I suggest those who want to make substantive comments on this both (a) make a comment or two during the 2 minute "begging" period, as i call it, and also (b) state you want the item removed from the consent agenda for fuller discussion.

It is particularly important to have the item pulled for fuller discussion to be voted on individually, if you want others to be able to speak on the item, want the staff to say something, or wish to have the item strengthened.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
